Summary. I can only hope you find my work somewhat intriguing, and more than a little plausible. Good luck, and thanks for visiting!
Status Report
July 20, 2008
Locally, it was the evening of April 22, 2007 when I first posted to this blog. The same time in London was the early morning of April 23, a date traditionally recognized as both the birthday and deathday of William Shakespeare. I have given the blog the structure of a web-log book. Most future posts will be in the “General Posts” or “Parallelisms” sections, and are fragments of chapters, or proto-chapters, of a book which may be published at some later date. Currently, I am still working on the overall framework of the blog. It’s a slow process of experimentation and gestation. Most of the posts are unfinished in some way, and many need to be heavily revised. My long range plans are divided into three phases with the following characteristics:
Phase-1: Formative Phase (4/22/2007 – 12/31/2008).
experiment with presentation and documentation styles, implement an overall framework, learn fine-points of HTML and Cascading Style Sheet design, do some research on old HLAS posts, edit previous posts as needed for consistency with framework changes, finish incomplete posts, disable comments, withhold personal contact information.
Phase-2: Active Phase (3-5 years).
heavily promote the blog, post something new at least once a month, make minimal framework changes, keep status report current, enable moderated comments, edit and post reader comments, provide personal contact information.
Phase-3: Inactive Phase.
freeze and retire the blog, stop posting, keep blog displayed in frozen form, organize all posts and reader comments into traditional chapters, publish the reorganized blog material in book form, disable comments, disable personal contact information.
The date of transition from gestational Phase-1 to active Phase-2 is a tentative goal. Sometime in the near future, I’ll post a “Preface” and a new “Introduction.” The preface will be a personal account of the journey which led me to formulate “The Malta Theory,” and then led me to publish this blog. The new introduction will be a general overview of the historical and political context of “The Malta Theory.” The material which I have posted to date is just a very small fraction of what I have yet to say.
Welcome! Students of Shakespeare throughout the world, a warm and hearty welcome! I dedicate this blog to students everywhere who love to question authority. Please browse around. A good place to start would be the
Introduction
Here is where I hope to keep everyone informed about various issues relating to this blog. Eventually, I will move the “Status Report” to its own page separate from the “Introduction” page.
